In restaurants and hotels, a chipped plate is a violation of health and safety codes as chips in the piece can contaminate the food. That’s why our bowls are designed to break before they chip. In the rare case that your piece chips, we’ll gladly replace it, no questions asked. How We Craft The
Perfect Plateware

All of our tabletop pieces are fully vitrified. The vitrification process occurs on the first firing of the plates to eliminate the pores of the plates or clay. By reducing the porousness of the piece, you reduce the water absorption making the plate more resistant to cracks and bacteria. The water absorption rate for Made In’s vitrified plateware is .2%, compared to the more porous and absorbent surface of the European standard of .5%.
